I live in Espírito Santo, on the Brazilian coast. About four hours west, the land climbs into the Caparaó range, home to some of the most awarded coffees in Brazil.

I love arabica coffee: exploring brewing methods, trying new beans, chasing the cups that surprise me. I'm also happiest outdoors, and whenever I hit the trail, my coffee comes with me.

So I put together a selection of tools to help you enjoy coffee at its best, at home and wherever you go.

What I recommend and why

  • It has to earn its spaceEvery piece should make a real difference to the cup, not just add another step.
  • Fresh beans beat expensive machinesLiving next to the farms taught me that.
  • Built to lastWell-made over trendy. Things you'll keep for years, not replace next season.
  • Honest about who it's forEvery pick says who it suits, and sometimes who should skip it.
